Father Engagement

POLICY:

NOCAC Child Development recognizes the importance of both parents involvement in the program.  NOCAC Child Development provides events and opportunities that are focused on father engagement.

PROCEDURES:

  1. NOCAC Child Development Staff will recognize and respect the roles of both the mother and father have on their children.
  2. The Family Advocate will explain the importance and expectation of father engagement at the initial application appointment.
  3. All NOCAC Child Development Staff will continue to engage the participant’s father throughout the program term.
  4. NOCAC Child Development Staff will provide the same support to fathers as is given to the mother.
    1. Promoting positive co-parenting
    2. Promoting the father as educators to their child
    3. Involve the father in program activities such as:
      1. Family Fun Nights
      2. Picnics
      3. Parent Teacher Conferences
      4. Transitioning plans
      5. Goal setting
      6. Newsletters
      7. Mailing important information where shared parenting is present
      8. Bring dad to school week
      9. Super dad reader
      10. When dad answers the phone talk to him
      11. If mom cannot be reached, reach out to dad
      12. Conscious Discipline for Families
      13. Volunteering in the program for Policy Council
