Housing Coordinator

Location: Defiance, Ohio
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $16.30/HR (W/ HS DIPLOMA), $18.04 (W/ 2 YEAR DEGREE) AND $19.40 (W/ 4 YEAR DEGREE)
Classification: Full-Year, Non-Union

Our Housing & Homelessness Programs provide essential support to individuals and families across Northwest Ohio — helping them overcome barriers, navigate resources, and build brighter futures.

We’re looking for a compassionate, organized, and community-minded Housing Coordinator to support our housing programs and help clients move toward long-term stability. This role is ideal for someone who values human connection, understands the challenges of housing insecurity, and thrives in a supportive, service-focused environment.


What You’ll Do

As a Housing Coordinator, you will be a key part of our efforts to prevent homelessness, connect clients to resources, and support their journey toward safe and stable housing.

Your work will include:

  • Conducting client intake assessments and determining eligibility for housing programs.

  • Helping clients develop individualized housing plans and connecting them to local resources and supports.

  • Completing home visits to monitor progress, ensure safety, and maintain positive relationships.

  • Coordinating with community partners, landlords, and service organizations to support client needs.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in client databases and program records.

  • Providing guidance, referrals, and advocacy for clients facing barriers such as transportation, employment, or financial instability.

  • Assisting with program reporting, grant requirements, and data tracking to support compliance and quality.

  • Supporting shelter or program activities as needed to ensure consistency of services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Must have or be willing to obtain the Coordinated Entry Certification and Diversion Training Certification.

  • Associate Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of experience in human services work or volunteer work in a human services setting.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including public speaking.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.

  • Ability to speak in front of small and large groups.

Other Requirements

  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings (background check, drug/alcohol screen, physical).

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

  • Proficiency with computer systems, Microsoft Office, and data entry.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries and ethics.

  • Must be able to listen with empathy, establish professional relationships, and maintain appropriate boundaries with individuals experiencing homelessness.

  • Sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse families, with a commitment to cultural responsiveness and respect
