LEA Referral Statement

POLICY:

NOCAC Head Start/Early Head Start will refer a child to the LEA (Local Education Agency) if warranted through the developmental, speech/language, social/emotional, vision and/or hearing screenings.

PROCEDURES:

NOCAC Head Start/Early Head Start Staff will:

1. Refer any participant presenting concerns on any and/or all screenings for a formal evaluation to assess eligibility for services under IDEA as soon as possible and not to exceed timelines required under IDEA .
2. Partner with the participant’s parents to help support the family through the LEA’s evaluation process.
