POLICY:
NOCAC will provide Radon testing at every center as determined by the Health Services Advisory Council.
PROCEDURES:
- Environmental Protection Agency recommends testing in the lowest level of the building. Each classroom and lunch room/gym will be tested. Teacher work areas and second story rooms do not need tested.
- Conducting the test
- Testing kits are purchased from and analyze by Air Check, Inc 1936 Butler Bridge Dietician/Nutritionist, Mills Rive, NC
- Contact the Transportation/Safety Specialist for a kit
- Perform test as instructions read.
- Air Check will mail the results via email.

- Repeating a high radon test
- Any test at or above 4.0 pCi/L will need to be repeated. The average of the first and second result will be averaged. If lower than 4.0 pCi/L no further action is required.
- Repeat testing of the location will take place every six months until 2 consecutive tests are below 4.0 pCi/L
- Policy Council and NOCAC Board will be provided with a complete report that includes all testing related documentation, results and interpretations.
- NOCAC will work with a radon mitigation professional licensed by the Ohio Department of Health to reduce elevated radon levels identified through testing.
