Head Start Home Visitor – Defiance County
Make a Meaningful Impact – One Home at a Time
Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Home-Based Teacher to join our Head Start Home Visiting team. In this unique role, you’ll work directly with families in their homes to help parents become their child’s first and most important teacher.

What You’ll Do
- Conduct weekly in-home visits with parents and their children (birth to age 5).
- Support pregnant women through prenatal education and planning.
- Model positive parenting and early learning strategies.
- Guide families in creating and following personalized, developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
- Complete developmental and sensory screenings for each child.
- Document visits and progress using the ChildPlus system.
- Organize and facilitate twice-monthly socialization events to build community and strengthen parenting skills.
- Collaborate with program staff and participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development.

Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, or related field, preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a willingness to obtain a Home Visitor CDA within 18 months (NOCAC provides training and support)
- Valid Ohio driver’s license and insurability under NOCAC policy
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Experience with Early Head Start, preferred.

Pay Scale
- $18.62/hour — High School Diploma + willing to earn CDA
- $19.42/hour — Associate’s Degree
- $20.97/hour — Bachelor’s Degree
Schedule
- Monday-Thursday
- 34 hours per week
- 50 weeks out of the year (lay off last 2 weeks in July)
